Our actor training programme features a rigorous curriculum, tailored to suit the demands of the modern industry, ensuring that our drama students leave us with all the skills and experience they need to take that next step in their career. Regular observation and monitoring is provided to drive progress and development throughout the course.

Student actors eager to embark on a career in TV would benefit in particular from taking acting classes with us, as our course provision strongly emphasises acting for camera skills, with the majority of lessons focusing on working on TV scripts from new or recently broadcast productions, although other techniques and mediums are also covered, of course.

Career progression aside, ActUpNorth courses help to build confidence and develop transferable skills that prove beneficial in other areas of life, both personal and professional.

Based in The Baltic Triangle, Liverpool’s new creative hub, the ActUpNorth school of acting will offer you a step-by-step journey to develop as an actor, building your confidence, helping you to connect emotionally with your characters and make your performances more authentic, while refining techniques and empowering you to seek out your next big acting opportunities.

We are a Spotlight accredited training provider, which means that once you successfully complete two full consecutive years of study, you will then be eligible to join Spotlight, helping to connect you with casting professionals across film, TV and theatre.

In addition to a regular tutor, students also get the valuable opportunity to work with a host of well-known, visiting industry experts including casting directors, agents, directors, and producers.

FEES: Classes are priced at £22 for 2 hours. This figure includes the cost of all additional guest tutor and professional practice classes. A fee of £88 is payable in advance every four weeks, though discounts are available for those wishing to pay for the whole term in advance.

COMMITMENT: The minimum commitment to study with ActUpNorth is one term.

WHEN: If you are accepted onto our programme, you will be invited to attend 1 x 2-hour class each week. Class times vary throughout the week with some running weekdays 5pm-7pm or 7.30pm – 9.30pm.

WHERE: We are based in centre of Liverpool’s new creative hub ‘The Baltic Triangle’. Whilst the postal address takes you to Norfolk Street our access to the building is via Flint Street where it meets Simpson Street next to ‘Baltic Creative’. Please use the postcode L1 0DH. To the left of the ‘Baltic Creative’ building, you will see blue railings. Once in the car park, you’ll see an elevated blue staircase and a blue door. SUCCESS: Our students in Liverpool have had great success locally, nationally, and internationally. Recent projects have included ‘Cilla’ and ‘Little Boy Blue’ for ITV, ‘Tinstar’ for Sky, ‘Anthony’, ‘Care’ and ‘The Responder’ for BBC and of course Liverpool’s flagship Channel 4 show ‘Hollyoaks’. Students have also featured prominently in TV ad campaigns for global brands and appeared in west-end, national and regional theatre productions at profile venues such as ‘The Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse’, ‘The Royal Court’ and ‘The Epstein Theatre’.
