There have been lots of media reports about ‘nepo-babies’ over the last few months, with the press criticising the unfair advantage children of celebrities have when it comes to launching their own careers.

This is particularly true in creative industries, such as modelling and music, with the likes of Lily Allen, Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Sofia Richie, Lily-Rose Depp, Kaia Gerber, and Georgia May Jagger all making a big name for themselves thanks to their famous parents.

When it comes to acting, it seems nepotism is still thriving too, unfortunately. Actor Jason Ritter, who starred in Parenthood between 2010 and 2015, said his career was launched due to his father John Ritter, who was also an actor.

Speaking on The Jess Cagle Show, Jason spoke about his first acting job on The Real Story Of O Christmas Tree in 1991, saying: “I will say, without any hesitation, this was like a full-on nepotism hire. I will admit that.”

John, who was famous for his role in 8 Simple Rules opposite Kaley Cuoco among other projects, died before he could see Jason’s career really take off, with the 43-year-old having now starred in the likes of Frozen 2, and several TV series, including Candy, Raising Dion, and A Million Little Things.

He also featured in one of the year’s hottest shows, The Last Of Us.

Jason isn’t the only nepo-baby in Hollywood though, and there are many celebrities you might not have known had famous parents. These include Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Anniston, and Zoe Kravitz.

Having a celebrity in the family is certainly not the only way to achieve your career goals though. If you want to make it on to the big screen, taking acting classes in Leeds is definitely a good place to start
