It is always disappointing when you fail an audition for a role you’d love to have, but budding actors and actresses should not be dismayed, as this doesn’t mean their Hollywood dreams are over.

In fact, some of the world’s most famous stars have bombed big auditions before, and still gone on to have hugely successful careers.

Take Matthew McConaughey, for instance, who auditioned for Titanic and thought he’d done a good job, the Independent revealed.

“The audition went really well. Well enough where, when I was left, I was being slapped on the back … well enough where you go outside and call your agent and say, ‘Oh, I nailed it’,” the Dallas Buyers Club actor recalled on an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.

Instead, Leonardo DiCaprio got the career-breaking role, and the actors went on to appear alongside one another in the 2013 movie The Wolf of Wall Street.

Oscar-winner Reese Witherspoon was also let down gently after failing to get the role of Cher Horowitz in the 1990s cult film Clueless.

Although, director and writer Amy Heckerling thought, “Wow, she’s amazing,” the role went to Alicia Silverstone instead.

Despite this, Witherspoon has appeared in some huge movies, including Legally Blonde, Walk The Line, Wild, Four Christmases and Cruel Intentions, to name a few.

Emma Stone, who has won appraise for her roles in La La Land, The Help and Cruella, thought she’d missed her chance of stardom after failing the audition for Alice In Wonderland.

She stated: “Not getting a Tim Burton movie is really devastating.”
